One in three women has experienced physical or sexual violence, usually at the hands of an intimate partner. That’s one third of all women, worldwide.
Some women don’t survive family and sexual violence. But those who do — like Jasmin*, pictured above — carry the physical and emotional scars of their abuse with them for the rest of their lives.
And while gender-based violence affects women first and foremost, it hurts the whole community.
For years, Jasmin endured her husband’s violent and controlling behaviour. But eventually, she found a way out of the nightmare.
With your help, we can provide urgent support for more women like Jasmin escaping violence. Beyond immediate aid, we can also invest in long-term solutions that address the root causes of violence and help affected communities build a safer future for the next generation.
Enough is enough. Please donate today to help break the cycle of violence and keep families safe from harm.
Your donation will be used in support of Oxfam's efforts around the world. This is one of the many ways we work with communities living in poverty to improve their lives.
