Donate now to double your life-saving impact in northern Ethiopia

Millions of people in the Horn of Africa and northern Ethiopia are facing increased hunger and poverty, as conflict and food security crises worsen.

An escalation in the conflict in northern Ethiopia means 6.9 million people are now in need of emergency food assistance. With 400,000 facing famine-like conditions.

While across the region families are facing multiple concurrent crises with people already facing severe food insecurity, flooding exacerbated by climate change, and the impact of coronavirus.

Soon, families that had insufficient food to start with will suddenly find themselves with none at all.

We’re working to provide cash assistance to thousands of families so they can buy food. We’re also distributing soap, hygiene kits and clean water to hospitals and communities, as well as increasing public health awareness to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Should the funds raised exceed the amount required to meet the immediate and longer term needs of the people in the affected areas, Oxfam Australia will direct donations to our International Crisis Fund to enable us to rapidly address emergencies as they occur.
